COSMIC ROOM
COSMIC ROOM is a communication attempt by Moritz Sauer and team: How can experiences of queerness** be brought to the dominance society*? In the immersive performance, the performers establish a shared sensual relationship with the only person watching. In the darkness, this person experiences different states of being that can characterize queer experience. Through the sharing of marginalized experiences of exclusion, the space is illuminated into the cosmic space of queer utopias. For only when we know about each other can we take care of each other.
COSMIC ROOM is an open process that was started at Dampfzentrale Bern and will be continued at Tanzhaus Zürich. It is to be continued in upcoming residencies.
*The author Max Czollek replaces the term majority society with this to show that it is not a majority but a culturally dominant group that creates exclusion mechanisms.
**The term queerness is used here as a catch-all term for LGBTIQA*+people and includes race, class and different forms of ability.
